Updated Entryway Using Peel And Stick Wallpaper

I know lots of you follow along with what I'm up to on my Facebook page, but those of you who don't I have to say you're missing out!  While I was on break over the holidays I posted a lot of pictures of what I was up to on Facebook!

One of the projects I posted pictures of was my peel and stick wallpaper wall.  I've wanted to try this product, which is sold at Target, since it came out.  I just never had the right place for the wallpaper and the price was never quite right for me.  That was until I was perusing my local Target and found 2 rolls of navy blue and white stripe Devine™peel and stick wallpaper for $14.98 a roll.  I figured for $30 it was worth a try.  I'd wanted to add stripes to our entryway, but I wasn't completely sold on the idea of painting them on.  This was a great compromise and gave me the opportunity to try the stripes without any commitment.  Did I mention this wallpaper is basically a large decal and easily removed?!

Here's the entryway before

It's nice, but a bit too safe and boring.  Also, you might recall, I'm slowly trying to remove the taupe from every room in the house!

I don't have any in-progress pictures of hanging the wallpaper.  I will say it was easy, but would have been a lot easier if I had someone to help me with holding the paper.  There were a few times when I did get the paper stuck on itself, which proved tricky getting apart.  I only had a tiny bit of extra so I had to be very careful not to mess up.  Since the paper was on clearance and I bought the last 2 rolls it wasn't like I could run out and buy another roll!

Lining up the wallpaper and making sure it was level was my biggest challenge, but the fact I could easily remove a section made it a lot easier if I did make a mistake (and I made a few!).  The wallpaper is meant to be hung vertically, but I had always envisioned horizontal stripes in my head so that's the look I went for.  If I have one word of advice when using this product, work in small sections.

Here's how the wall looked at Christmas, the picture quality isn't the best because I took this with my iPhone.

And here's how it looks now!

All these different looks in less than 2 months!  I've mentioned before my house is a revolving door of furniture and decor...I wasn't lying!

The little yellow MCM chair was in our guest bedroom before, but that room never gets used and it wasn't an integral part of the design in the room.  The lamp, is another piece from another room and it wasn't being utilized there.  The large chalkboard I've had for a few years and it's been all over the place.  Of course the globes are part of my ever-expanding collection and they're always moving around the house, not on their own of course because then I'd have to move!

Here at the My Passion For Decor house we LOVE to travel and because we do move houses so frequently, this quote was perfect of us.

I just L O V E the pop of yellow against the navy and white stripe wallpaper!  In the background you can see another project I shared on Facebook.  My gallery wall which is made up of pictures of Hunter, surrounding my art by House of Belonging.  The art is actually lyrics from a song I've been singing to Hunter since before he was born.

One of my favorite things to collect are globes, but I have a very special place in my heart for light-up globes.  They just warm my heart!

I like to do fun things in my decor, like this hanging this large letter B with an arrow pointing toward the powder room.  No one has asked me where the bathroom is since I hung this up!

Both the B and the arrow are scores from Hobby Lobby.  I only paid $22 for both!

As usual, I've shared way too many pictures with you, but if I didn't do that then I wouldn't be me, right?!  One thing I'm aiming to do this year is be true to myself and not worry what everyone else is doing....To thine own self be true (William Shakespeare)

My motto for decorating or designing a space is have fun and do what you love.  Who cares if something isn't 'on trend' according to someone else.  Who's to say what works in your home anyway?  They don't live there, YOU DO!!   Make your house something that fits you, your lifestyle and your family.

I hope you enjoy this entryway update as much as I do!  I'd love to hear from you.  Tell me what your motto is for decorating your home!

Thank you for reading!!

  1. Well, once again you blow me away!!! I absolutely love this entryway. Since I enjoy Christmas so much I think that is my favorite look. I say "I think", because I totally love the chalkboard and the saying you came up with. This entry is warm, cozy, inviting, everything you would want an entrance to your home to impart to those fortunate enough to get to see it in person.

  2. Love your blog and ALL your pics! It's one of the main reasons I come back ...and back...and back! Continue to 'be you'! You do a fab job of documenting all your instructions and taking great pics to make it easy to follow along. Thank you! This is a FUN site! :)
